Last week legendary street artist Banksy opened up the worlds first ‘Bemusement Park,’ on a 2.5-acre seafront park located at the Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset. The website describes the park as “a festival of art, amusements and entry-level anarchism.”
Featuring a huge collection of satirical works by the likes of Banksy, Jimmy Cauty, Ben Long, Damien Hirst, Julie Burchill, Paul Insect, Bast, Nettie Wakefield, David Shrigley, Michael Beitz, and many many more (full list of artists can be found here), the park showcases some of the most interesting contemporary art in one quite creepy looking place. The park is open daily through September 25th and features a short but well curated events taking place every friday including Run The Jewels on September 4th and a closing showcase featuring Massive Attack, Pussy Riot, and Kate Tempest. The park is also well staffed with security guards trained to look dismally sad and serious at all times.
“Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper? Then this is the place for you. Bring the whole family to come and enjoy the latest addition to our chronic leisure surplus…”
