Somehow AGO’s yearly fundraiser gala, Massive, always delivers.
It has remained relevant in a city where gala’s and red-carpets have spread like a pox. And somehow, in a city full of so much talent, Massive always manages to commission the right artists to fill the AGO with works for one of the best annual Toronto parties.
This year, Artistic Director TALWST collected a team of artists to transform the AGO for one night, for a concept he called HOTBED. Concurrent to the AGO exhibition Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now’s the Time, which he also co-curated, the Massive party celebrates the exploding arts scene in Toronto.
“Like NYC’s avant-garde scene of the 1980s, HOTBED, is the place you want to be, the place you need to be; HOTBED is Toronto in 2015.”
Indeed.
