The fifth and final evening of World MasterCard Fashion Week kicked off on a high note with luxury ready-to-wear brand 3.PARADIS. Designers Emeric Tchatchoua and Raymond Cheung create clean, avante-garde street wear, inspired by their homes in Paris, Hong Kong and Montreal. For Fall/Winter 2015, the line has a post-apocalyptic feel, accentuted by the oxygen masks paired with the utilitarian looks. The designers have a clear point of view for their man, showing interesting silhouettes that balance well with their clean, linear aesthetic.
Next up, Toronto’s Stephan Caras celebrated feminity with his Fall/Winter 2015 collection “RUBI”, named for the bright red prevalent through the line. Curve-hugging silhouettes met the red and black colour palette to create nightlife-ready glam rock looks. Intricate latice-like detailing gave the collection depth, executed especially well in a black haltered jumpsuit.
Wrapping up fashion week was Montreal’s Mikael D. Showing to a more-than-packed house, founder and designer Mikael Derderian brought us to imperial China for Fall/Winter 2015, setting the scene by opening the show with an impressive sword and drumming demonstration. Design details like origami folding and cherry blossom appliques told the designers story well, while the red, silver and black colour palette drove home the theme of the collection. My favourite look, a white asymmetric gown with mirror ball details, was fittingly worn by my favorite model of fashion week, Kiera Yasmeen.
