The last and final day at Osheaga started with a sweaty dance party in the scene de la vallee for Rochester New York indie rockers Joywave. Fresh off their hyped Lollapalooza performance on Saturday, the band played their EP How Do You Feel? with energy that brought new and old fans to dance, finishing with their smash hit “Tongues.”
Catching an ear full of AFI we headed back to the main stage to catch Scottish electro poppers CHVRCHES over a couple of beers. It’s certainly not the first time we’ve seen them play a festival, it surely won’t be their last, and if it’s possible lead vocalist Lauren Mayberry looked more gorgeous this time sporting some sparkly make up under her eye.
After seeing The Temples lead singer James Edward Bagshaw in Saint Laurent’s latest music project we were pretty pumped to finally experience their live show. Their cool guy psychedelic tunes echoed through the tree stage yet our eyes stayed locked on Bagshaw as he oozed sex appeal in a rather Jimi Hendrix like manner with Thomas Edward James Walmsley giving off a Vince Noir vibe. We swayed along and pretended it was woodstock before heading down to the green stage to catch Temper Trap’s one hit wonder “Sweet Disposition.”
Making our way back to the main stage poutine in hand we were ready to see pop superstar LORDE perform to the huge crowd forming at both stages for her highly anticipated set as well as the festival closer Arctic Monkeys. Her set delivered everything we could hope for and more including a Kindness cover of “Swingin’ Party” which basically made our night.
After a couple Arctic Monkeys songs we headed back over to the green stage to sway along till the night came to a close with Lykke Li. We haven’t seen her play her new album live and though it’s not as upbeat as Youth Novels we still enjoyed winding down our night with this Swedish pop goddess.
