This year at Chicago’s coolest music festival, Pitchfork, I got dressed in a few outfits, as one does. Though some were more popular than others with the style photographers, I decided to feature my personal favourite, centring around this vintage dress I recently had altered in this what I wore post.
I fell in love with this gorgeous muted print as soon as I saw it but it was just a little bit to long to look modern, so I had it shortened (perhaps an inch or two too much) and now I’m absolutely in love with it! I paired it with a purple leather belt from the Australian brand Life With Bird and this incredible statement necklace from Toronto designer Michelle Ross who I was happy to just recently. Her designs are incredibly well made with a mix of semi precious stones and vintage metals, and I loved the way this tiered Juliet necklace hung over the shoulder pleats of the dress and played off my Karen Walker sunglasses.
My other outfit featured a vintage pleated skirt I also altered from a long maxi, paired with a paisley printed tank with laster cut outs at the bottom I found shopping in Melbourne’s Fitzroy area earlier this year, and another Michelle Ross necklace named Eloise. I ended up wearing a pair of Cole Haan wedges the entire weekend I found at Winners (and was saving for Osheaga), but they were so comfortable I couldn’t resist wearing them every day last weekend.
Teen Vogue featured my look in their “21 Ultra-Cool Outfits to Copy Now” at the festival as did the Chicago Reader!
