All of the glitz and glam comes out on the red carpet at the Oscars and this years 86th annual Academy Awards red carpet delivered looks inspired by champagne bottles like Lupita Nyong’o, previous bad fashion crimes in Bette Midler’s case, and just generally being able to put yourself together without the help of a stylist like Cate Blanchett.
Top trends seen on the crimson carpet were of course fitting pops of metallic seen on Angelia Jolie, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Julie Delpy, and Kristin Chenoweth, blue in all shades including baby on Lupita Nyong’o, and midnight on Kevin Spacey, Sandra Bullock, Jim Carrey and Amy Adams, as well as hits of peplum still kicking it on Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence. White seems to be a colour (or shade) that dominated as well both on men and women like Naomi Watts who wore Calvin Klein, Kate Hudson in Versace, Meryl Streep in a white drapy colour blocked gown, and many men in white tuxedos including Matthew McConaughey, Ellen DeGeneres in Saint Laurent, and Jared Leto with a red bow tie and his ombre hair.
Of course there were many hot soon-to-be moms on the red carpet including Elsa Pataky and Kerry Washington who wore a satin mauve pleated gown, but the award for hottest preggers women on carpet has to go to Olivia Wilde who looked elegant in her Valentino gown on the arm of Jason Sudeikis who wore Prada.
