Threatening rain, crazy clouds speckled with sun swirled over Alt J’s chilled midday set on the first day of Osheaga 2013. The Leeds band arrived on stage with their hands in the shape of triangles and the crowd lovingly matched them back. They played all of An Awesome Wave as they have the handful of other times we’ve seen them perform, and the crowd swayed along. Lead vocalist Joe Newman melted the crowd with his sweet and sincere lines while Thom Green pounded out complex rhythms to match, rocking a Supreme hat.
