In a seemingly perfect twist of fate, prolific actor Steve Buscemi has teamed up with New York band Vampire Weekend to direct the bands live webcast of their upcoming Roseland Ballroom concert. The interesting collaboration serves as the official 2013 launch of American Express’ Unstaged Music web series, which has previously included bands like Arcade Fire, Duran Duran, Usher, The Killers, Coldplay and more. The live stream of Vampire Weekend’s Roseland Ballroom concert is set for Sunday April 28 at 9pm ET/6pm PT/2am GMT. Fans can get exclusive access to the live stream thanks to Amex’s by tuning in here to watch.
Below is the a short and rather hilarious video of Steve Buscemi and Vampire Weekend’s first meeting after finding out he is a distant cousin of bassist Chris Baio. Watch as Buscemi discusses the music with the band and awkwardly (yet comically) mentions he could do a “Twitter thing,” but emphasizes that he can raise the band’s profile by sending emails from his AOL account. It’s great!
The band will release their forthcoming album Modern Vampires on May 14 via XL.
