The first Monday in May has finally come, which means one thing: the Met Gala is back in full swing. Each year, the event’s theme sets the stage for a night of all-out glamour, with A-List celebs showing up in unforgettable looks that are talked about for years to come—good and bad.

This year’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, pays tribute to the life and career of Karl Lagerfeld—the late designer who helped to shape the vision of fashion houses like Chanel, Fendi, and Chloé throughout his 65-year-long career.

Several pieces from the Chanel archives were spotted throughout the night, with Nicole Kidman re-wearing the iconic feathered gown from her 2004 Chanel No 5 commercial, and Dua Lipa donning a 90s tweed princess dress that was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer.

All in all, the night was filled with plenty of buzz-worthy moments, with more than a few head-turning looks inspired by Lagerfeld’s iconic cat Choupette (we’re looking at you, Leto and Doja). Here, we’re taking a closer look at some of the best fashion highlights from the event. Let’s get into it!

Gisele Bündchen

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen made a grand entrance in a stunning archival ensemble that, according to twitter users, was the final bridal look in Lagerfeld’s spring 2007 Chanel couture show. Newly single Bündchen wore the striped-and-sequined tulle dress with a featured Chanel cape embellished with camellias, the signature flower of the fashion house.

Anok Yai

Anok Yai did the most in the best way possible, turning heads in a metallic Atelier Prabal Gurung dress detailed with intricate sequin paillettes. The strapless minidress featured a structured miniskirt with long fringe, while a brown veil over her eyes and a cascading mesh train added a touch of mystery to the look. And the glow? Sheer excellence.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny proves himself once again as a fashion icon, arriving in a backless tweed suit matched with platform leather shoes, all from Jacquemus. The reggaeton superstar wore his hair slicked-back and accessorized the monochromatic look with pearl stud earrings, a silver chain necklace, and a never-ending cape fashioned from rosettes.

Michaela Coel

Leave it to Michaela Coel to win the red carpet every time. All eyes were on the actor and filmmaker as she graced the red carpet in sparkling Schiaparelli from head-to-toe—literally. Coel wore Schiaparelli’s signature toe shoes to finish off the look.

Kristen Stewart

Long-time Lagerfeld muse and Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart stepped out in a classic Chanel fit, wearing a cropped white blazer and baggy trousers, accenting the look with a monogram belt, black tie and white loafers. Stewart’s glam took the cake, with textured hair and straight brows perfectly complementing the star’s barely-there makeup.

Elle Fanning arrived at the Met carpet in the most delicate white lace gown by Vivienne Westwood, accenting the bridal-inspired ensemble with a black ribbon flower crown on her head and a bouquet of fresh daisies in her arms. Fanning’s cropped black jacket and kohl-rimmed eyes added an edgy twist to the ethereal look.

Dua Lipa

Met Gala co-chair Dua Lipa made waves as one of the first to walk the red carpet, wearing a vintage 1992 Chanel ballgown once worn by supermodel Claudia Schiffer. The structured ivory dress featured classic Chanel elements, like black-and-white striped piping, tweed, and a fringed hemline, but what really made the look stand out was the massive Tiffany diamond necklace she wore around her neck.

Diddy

Staying true to the theme, Sean “Diddy” Combs arrived in a Camellia-adorned outfit designed by himself, marking his first design for Sean Jean Couture after a decade. The Swarovski crystals and black pearl-encrusted ensemble served as an excellent comeback look while still paying homage to Chanel’s signature emblems.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman she made a glamorous entrance on the red carpet in an elegant Chanel Haute Couture dress from 2004, originally worn by the star almost 20 years ago in an unforgettable Chanel No 5 commercial. Kidman looked otherworldly in the pale pink shimmering fabric and sheer train, which comes as no surprise.
