L.A. noise pop band Wavves shared “Heavy Metal Detox,” the third single from their forthcoming fifth album V. According to singer Nathan Williams, “It’s not happy music, not at all, but it’s inspired by learning to be happy about the shittiest lows, trying to express a realistic optimism in the knowledge that nothing is ever going to be perfect, and there will always be some fucked up shit in your life…but you can have a positive outlook on it, if you want.”
We have to say “Heavy Metal Detox” is our favorite of the three tracks we’ve heard off V. The bratty way Williams sings “I don’t really wanna act afraid / Not about you / About anything” is especially fun. Listen to it above.
V is out October 2nd via Ghost Ramp/Warner Bros.
