The theme of this year’s Met Gala will be Commes des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo.
Kawakubo will be the second living designer to be honored at a Met Gala, following Yves Saint Laurent in 1983. The event will be hosted by Anna Wintour alongside Katy Perry and Pharrell. The event co-chairs will be Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady. Kawakubo herself and former ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy will be honorary chairs.
Everything goes down on May 1. We can’t wait to see what kind of quirky dramatic and experimental looks the stars will bring out on the red carpet. And of course what pieces will be chosen for the exhibit inside.
