Sportmax’s Carte Blanche x Kim Gordon

Hawley Dunbar September 24, 2010 Fashion, Music No Comments

After a most successful first chapter of Sportmax‘s Carte Blanche collaboration which featured Christophe Brunnquell of Purple Magazine and Le Figaro, the second installment features visual artist and musician Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth.

Premiering at Fashion’s Night Out, the idea behind the collaborative series is that the artists are given ‘carte blanche’ to design a collection that reflects their individual aesthetic. For chapter two, Kim incorporates her fine artwork into three limited pieces in which only 800 numbered t-shirts and dresses were produced and sold.

“Inspired by the relationship between the artist and nature, the fascination [of] forests, trees, the natural veining of wood – all re-interpreted and re-elaborated with the watercolour technique and some metalic ink and black acrylic,” Kim tells the story of living away from the hustle of New York being surrounded by nature.
