Review: Canon PowerShot SX 50

Canon PowerShot SX 50

We had the pleasure of playing around with a Canon PowerShot SX 50 a couple weeks back instead of our usual go-to DSLR and we thought we’d share our thoughts about the camera. Listed as “the world’s first 50x Optical Zoom lens” and packaged as a compact digital camera the PowerShot SX 50 is a perfect starter camera for anyone looking to graduate on from a pocket size point and shoot without getting too specific or manual about photography.

It features a 12.1 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, a DIGIC 5 Image Processor, a 108op full HD video with an HDMI output, and a high-speed AF. Great for an ammeter photographer who wants stunning results without too much fiddling around,  the PowerShot SX 50 wasn’t really our cup of tea, as we shoot at a more advanced level and like to be able to control the aperture and shutter speed. On the other hand, we would highly recommend it for personal use as it takes gorgeous photo during the day and despite its size, is quite light weight.
