Osheaga 2012: Bloc Party

Taking over the newly expanded and upgraded Green Stage, Bloc Party jumped on stage in the rain declaring that “we’re not going to let a bit of rain screw up our fun are we, Osheaga?” Oh, and was it ever raining, as the British dance-rock band started their set with the new albums first single, “Octopus” before moving on to “something slightly more familiar,” one of my personal favourites “Hunting For Witches”. For me this performance was one of the most highly anticipated sets at this years Osheaga, so much so that I danced and jammed out in the pouring rain. Something I never do. With people crowd surfing, fist pumping and singing along, Bloc Party showed very clearly that although they’ve been on hiatus since 2009, they have not lost their touch. Ending the set with “Banquet” was the perfect touch. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview I conducted with some of the boys from the band, which we will drop here on Sidewalk Hustle in the coming days. In the meantime take a look at the pictures below.
