On The Rise: Phoebe Ryan

On The Rise Phoebe Ryan

The only thing many of us knew about Phoebe Ryan was she murdered the Miguel/R. Kelly mashup of “Do You Like Drugs” and “Ignition.” It’s an addictive and slinky sounding remix that caught everyone’s attention. In the last year, she’s written with or/for Skizzy Mars, Oh Honey, and Bea Miller. Her voice has a breathy quality but she can also throw down. Ryan could easily kill it in the electronic scene (she was on Tritonal’s “Now or Never“) but she told Noisey she wants to bring some indie-pop sensibilities to Top 40.

The Texan 24-year old studied audio engineering/production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and after landing a deal at Columbia Records is now based out of LA. Ryan grew up with folk music but is obviously heavily influenced by R&B greats like K-Ci & JoJo and calls Tove Lo her idol. She just shared the music video for “Homie,” from her Mine EP.
