Montreal indie pop rockers Think About Life are really starting to create a lasting buzz with their rockin’ new album Family, released last month across the US and in Canada this past May. Shortly following the US release of the album came an excellent track review of “Havin’ My Baby” on Pitchfork, labeling the song best new music and giving the track a solid 8. They also said that this track is possibly one of the best in 2009 which is good news for Think About Life, who recently blogged about how harsh Pitchfork usually is towards their music. The blog post anticipated jokingly that their new album would probably receive a low rating of 2.1, no doubt in reaction to the 5 Pitchfork gave their EP back in 2006 (not as harsh as 2.1, but still).
If I had my way I would’ve given “Havin’ My Baby” a 10 because it’s such an amazingly layered soulful track!
They’re currently on tour with indie darlings You Say Party! We Say Die! across Ontario and Quebec and will be in Toronto later this month for the Steam Whistle Presents show at Phoenix along with their tour mates as well as Toronto’s Little Girls who recently graced the cover of Now Magazine. The show promises to be pretty freakin’ amazing (three great bands for 12 bucks! come on guys, talk about value!) and I’d highly recommend checking it out (and drinking as much Steam Whistle as you possibly can), get your tickets here!
I wish I could post up a video for “Havin’ My Baby” but unfortunately they have yet to release one! For now you will have to settle for “Sweet Sixteen” off the latest album. Enjoy!
