Live Music: Pittsburgh Track Authority at Izakaya Sushi House, Toronto

Julienne Spence December 17, 2012 Concert Reviews No Comments

We’ve all heard the saying Thursday is the new Friday and since the re-launch of Archi-Textures that has certainly been the case. This past Thursday the weekly get together, along with local promoter breakandenter brought in Pittsburgh Track Authority.

This trio of DJs are downright impressive. Records in tow, the three DJs mixed disco, house and techno. Tom Cox, Preslav Lefterov and Adam Ratana have been working together for about two years, but their on-stage presence and ability to mix each other’s tracks would make you think they’ve been working together for years. Electronic music fans take note, these guys are a force to be reckoned with and were even able to get the non-dancers on the floor. Check them out on Resident Advisor and Little White Earbuds. Hope we see them in a larger Toronto venue soon.

We should note the venue for this jam was also pretty cool, the back of a sushi bar on College. Archi-Textures is known for their interesting venues and the good news is there are two more left this year. Next Thursday, local fave Hali will be back from Berlin for an evening at College Street Bar and the final Archi-Textures installment for 2012 will be at Augusta House on December 27th. Check out the Archi-Textures facebook page for more details.

About The Author

At Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit there is a plaque that says, “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution.” The quote is from Emma Goldman, an anarchist, feminist and free-thinker of the early 20th century. This quote sums a lot about how I feel about life. To me music and dancing are two of the best forms of stress relief and self-expression. My music tastes go from eclectic to electric, but my love is deep house with a side of disco and bass.
