Live Music: Ghostface Killah + BADBADNOTGOOD at The Opera House

GFK BBNG-9

As part of the excellent Converse Rubber Tracks series, the collaboration between Toronto Jazz instrumentalists BADBADNOTGOOD (BBNG from here on) and Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah was brought to life at Toronto’s Opera House. The free concert brought a full audience to the venue, with the excited crowd packing in early for the show. BBNG took to the stage first, jamming through half an hour of their own material, free form instrumental jazz that showed just how talented these musicians were. While the instrumental material was very loose and freeform, the second Ghostface Killah took to the stage they became a peerless backing band, showing incredible chops. The material from their collaboration ‘Sour Soul’ was a fantastic mix of just what makes both groups so good. Their 23 song set list left nothing on the table, songs from both groups individual catalogues and their phenomenal collaboration made sure that the audience left happy.
