Harper’s Bazaar celebrates their 150th year in print with Lady Gaga on the cover of their latest December/January issue. Swaddled in fine lace and intricate beadwork, the glory days of a bold and brash Gaga we’ve come to know and love resigns for a touch of elegance in the Mel Ottenberg-styled editorial shot by Inez & Vinoodh. To coincide with Bazaar’s continued legacy of exploring womanhood in a modern work for a century and a half, Gaga penned a fierce and empowering essay of what being a lady means to her:

Being a lady today means being a fighter. It means being a survivor. It means letting yourself be vulnerable and acknowledging your shame or that you’re sad or you’re angry. It takes great strength to do that.

The December/January issue is out on newsstands on November 22. Visit Harper’s Bazaar online to read Lady Gaga’s essay on womanhood in full. Scroll below to see images from the editorial.
