JUMA Spring/Summer 2011

The most intimate ready-to-wear show we’ve been to yet this year, the JUMA Spring/Summer 2011 collection at Toronto’s Spoke Club on Friday was a true delight.

Inspired by the bro-sis duos recent travels to Kenya and Zaire, Alia and Jamil Juma have created a refined collection of mostly ladies sportswear for spring aimed at young creative professionals and avid artsy travelers like themselves.

The amazing printed silk twill scarves filled the room with a modern emotion provoked by African scenes printed on as they dangled like fresh fashion meat from the ceiling framing the space. The models lined the wall for a quick moment before mixing and mingling in the crowd allowing us a closer look at the details of the designs.

JUMA is stocked at Henri Bendel, Harvey Nichols, Revolve, and Serpentine (in Toronto), as well as online at JUMA. This spring/summer collection has us lusting after the Missoni-esque knit shorts, the printed silk twill racer back dresses, and of course the incredible array of scarves.
