We’re excited share the Free People’s August catalog shot on location in South Africa. They joined forces with Relate Trust this time around, which is a not for profit social enterprise creating job opportunities meant to change lives. Gorgeous one-of-a-kind delicately beaded bracelets are the result of the collaboration, and are already available online as well as at their newly opened Toronto location.
Free People will contribute one dollar from the sale of each bracelet to the “United Against Malaria” campaign to provide mosquito nets and treatments in malaria endemic regions of the African continent. Free People is a true lifestyle brand that incorporates experiences beyond apparel for their customers, to empower the makers of the bracelets to earn a sustainable income and develop new skills while fighting the malaria epidemic.
The breathtaking beauty of the South African landscape is captured through the lens of Guy Aroch featuring model Jessica Miller in golden fields or atop an African elephant. The theme is wild, pretty and utilitarian, featuring transition pieces to ease us into the cooler fall months. Bohemian dresses with intricate embroidery are featured with luxurious print scarves and menswear inspired items are mixed with pops of color.
Our favorite piece? A menswear denim shirt layered with an unexpected sweater trimmed in utilitarian grey but highlighted with colorful indigo threads throughout the body of the cardigan.
