I honestly do not think that Kanye’s VMA outburst was really that big of a deal. Seriously, and the ensuing barrage of Kanye interruption jokes are lame at best.
So with that said, lets move on.
I am sad to announce that Kanye’s long-rumored Pastelle clothing collection is not going to be released. With over a years worth of work invested into designing this line, only four pieces have been officially produced. Which is strange because several pieces have been seen being worn by Kanye, and the other day a series of images from the Pastelle look book leaked onto the web. So why the sudden about face? Well there is no official word as of yet but I really like the hypothesis that New York magazine came up with…
“Perhaps Kanye is the kind of creator who is never satisfied. The kind of creator who never sees the genius in his own work. Karl Lagerfeld may dash off sketch after sketch and produce outfit after outfit, but maybe Kanye torments himself over every detail, never able to reconcile his vision with the resulting physical product. And so he has scrapped that which will never be good enough — in his eyes. Either that, or this is just some elaborate hoax to drum up more press and excitement for the line Kanye’s reps say he will eventually launch. Martin Margiela may be retired, but Kanye can keep us guessing.” [via nymag.com]
There is talk however that the line will be released in some form under Kanye’s name, so we’ll have to see what comes of it.
