Bodkin’s Spring Summer 2010 lookbook is architectural modernism at its best. After the success of the 09 Spring Summer collection that featured Lykke Li, it isn’t at all surprising that the new collection shot by Tina Tyrell is equally stunning.
Functioning as an exploration in sustainability, Bodkin is a women’s line that strives for good design with a conscious. Keeping in mind production methods and materials, Brooklyn-based designer, Eviana Hartman uses mindfully sourced elements such as organic cotton and wool, recycled polyester, deadstock fabric, and artisanal dies to construct the collection which is manufactured entirely in the US.
Bodkin’s forward thinking has not only won the support of the fashion industry but most recently the Ecco Domani Sustainable Design Award. It’s no surprise that the woman behind Bodkin is more than just a talented designer, Hartman is also a working writer (she was editor at NYLON, and worked at Vogue and Teen Vogue), modern dancer, and is even the drummer in an up and coming Brooklyn-based band, Open Ocean, comprised of I Heart owner Jill Bradshaw, Teen Vogue Accessories Editor Sarah Frances Kuhn, and Dirty Librarian Chains designer Susan Domelsmith. Hartman also collaborated with Built by Wendy designer Wendy Mullin on the Sew U series of books.
My my, what a talented lady she is.
Take a look at some of the styles from Bodkin’s Spring Summer 2010 collection. I love the playful yet demure nature of the clothes and models against the stark white backdrop of the industrial loft in which the lookbook was shot.
