Chairlift at Pitchfork Music Festival 2013

Chairlift Pitchfork Music Festival 2013-2

After bumping into Chairlift at Nellcôte for their Pitchfork-approved DJ set following the festival on Saturday, we were even more excited to check out their set on Sunday afternoon. Caroline Polachek flew on stage in reworked and cropped hospital scrubs in a glorious sea foam green shade, immediately mentioning she had “been looking forward to this all year.” Happily feeling the same way, we watched them perform their way through most of last years stellar full length Something as well as the older favourites like “Bruises” and “Evident Utensil.”

Beginning with an operatic vocal intro Polachek quickly switched into synth pop mode spinning around the stage flipping her bad ass ombre hair and ribbons attached to her hands around. Drummer and guitarist Patrick Wimberly remained generally demure in comparison and together they put on one heck of a show for the afternoon crowd.
